Default Z71 clunk... what the hell is it???

I'm getting pretty annoyed with the infamous Z71 clunk, how can I fix it.. Looked under the truck today and seems like its the transfer case but nothing looks wrong with it... I hav a couple buddies with Z71's like mine and all do the exact clunk.. Help !!!!

search the word "clunk" on here and im sure you will find what you are looking for, fixes if i rem correctly are a nickel plated yoke, and grease which is a short fix. i just lowered my truck and it went away, im assuming cause the drive shaft moved in a little and took up the play, i dont think the change in pinion angle would have anything to do with it..

I fought that clunk for awhile on my truck. What I did to fix it was remove the drive shaft and clean the slip yoke then take some fine sand paper and smooth the outer part of the slip yoke up real good, remove the rust. I then used some mobile one grease and lubed the splines and outer part of the slip yoke. I did this over a year ago and the clunk has never came back.

cut a superball in half, clean out the splines in the yolk. cram the half ball in there, and lightly lube the splines.... your problem will be gone

well ive never done it, but its gotta be small enough to fit in the yoke, but not a super tiny one or i dont think it would make much of a difference. instructions are pretty self explainitory..
