That's bullshit, he can't just drive off like that. Even though it's private property, you're still suppose to exchange insurance information. He didn't give you a chance, just because he doesn't want to file a claim doesn't mean you won't. I would file a claim (unless you've filed several before) and let you insurance go after his insurance. I would also call the cops and tell them your side of the story and give them his plate number. He may call them and tell them it's all your fault. I would cover your ***!

You still need to call the police, file a report, swear out a warrant for his arrest for leaving scene of an accident then sue his ***. If you need to turn it in to your insurance then they will sue the sob.
The police may not be able to give him a ticket for anything on private property but he is still responsible for the damages caused by him.

in texas if you are on private property the insurance does not have to cover it. and you are allowed to leave the scene for up to 2 hours. and in texas and especially houston the cops will tell you there is notyhing they can do. trust me. i know insurance agents, cops, and body shop people. that is all she wrote. and it sucks.

I like your idea about "trailer hitching" his truck. Those things can do a TON of damage to a door.

Oh by the way if you do the trailer hitch thing make sure and use one of the kind that is for weight distributing its really big and would make a nice puurty dent in anything. If its an extended cab kit it where ther doors meet it will cause more damage and the doors will probably never line up right again. I guess I have a little something against hit and runs since i got hit in a wally world parking lot and messed my baby up. It just brings out the in me. BTW if you need somebody that can do body work cheap I may know somebody.

Later, Cody

call DPS and give them the info, they are over the accidents, hand over the info to your insurance company, they can give you his name, address mailing and physical.
small clams court will cost about 60 or so most of that is having him served,
you can sue for a max of $5000.00, take allot of pics to prove damage, have the body shops give you two sheets on job prices, one for insurance and a bloated one for the clams case, newer trucks are not cheap to repair, be sure to let the judge know what he said and that he just drove off.

if nothing works and you get his address from the plate number, time for a little night recon,
get a 1 gallon gas can, fill it half way with sugar then fill it up with gas, then about 3 or 4 am give his gas tank a good drink of the sweet stuff and walk away happy.
