Default Wrecked my truck and insurance trying to rape me?????

Well i was parked at college the other day and i didnt notice until i got home that my truck had been hit on the passanger side back fender and it is pretty nasty. I called my insurance and they were very good and told me to get an estiment. I went and got an estiment and it came up to $1,865. I sent to my insurance and low and be hold they send an adjuster to my house to look at the truck. Turns out that his estiment is $500 cheaper that the one that i sent them. I get on the phone and at his point i am a little pissed off. I finally talk the guy into looking letting me get a new estiment and the new that i got came out to be $1815. So i call my insurance guy right away and let him know how much the new estiment. My insurance tells me that he has already sent the check and if i wanted to get any more money the shop would have to call the adjuster and mke arrangements with him. I am wondering what can i do and iam getting ripped off by my insurance company? Please give me some advice

dont take the check, if it arrives in the mail dont cash it. call them back up and tell them that you need the entire amount. if they say that theylll give you more if the paint shop tells them its more then i would still fight it unless you really trust your insurance company. if you do trust them try to get them to put in writing that they will give more money if more is required. i dont know why insurance companies have such a problem anyway. most of the time they are already ripping you off in your bill each month. go with your gut on this one.

I don't know about in your state, but in Texas you have the right to get your vehicle repaired anywhere you want. The law states that is the case even if the estimate from the shop you choose is higher than the insurance companies estimate. However, the law does make mention of the fact that there is only so far over that estimate the insurance company must go. Something like 25% or so I believe.

Check your local laws. Find out if you can fight that somehow. Insurance companies suck.

how mutch is your deductible??
if its $500, then thats why the check will be $500 low, like mine was.
You give the check to the shop and they will bill you for the $500, You actually pay the deductible to the body shop, not to the insurance company.
Thats what I had to do when this happend

My deductiable is $300 and their estimaent cam out to $1378 and they told me that the check in the mail is for $1,078. I am stuck and i dont know what to do. I guess i will see if the shop can come to an agreement with adjusterand then i can get some more money. Thanks for the help and i will keep you guys posted on what happens.

Take the truck into a shop, you have no bargaining power with your insurance company. The shop and the insurance company must reach an agreed repair price. Dont be a jerk about it, like you said, you dont know how its supposed to work, they do.

Just take it in, the shop will call the insurance company, they insurance company will write a supplement if necessary to get your truck fixed.

BTW, you dont have freedom to get your truck fixed wherever you want in all states. Depends on what the states department of insurance says.

Whatever you do, don't trust the insurance company. They won't look out for you, all they'll try to get off a cheaply as they can.

Insurance companies suck, they are glad to take your money until you have a claim and then they try to do whatever they can to get out of paying as much as they can. Many of them also try to cancel you if you make a claim.

And watch the body shop also to make sure they replace your parts with OEM quality parts. I have seen a lot of shops order out of a backwoods catalog so they can make a little money in their pocket and screw you. If you have ever ordered anything aftermarket like a cowl hood from a crappy company and tried to get it to fit right you'll know what im talking about.

$1378
- 300 Deductible
= $1078 Your check, That is right!! that $300 is what you owe to the body shop. Thats how it works. Go to a place that will only use GM parts.
Are they going to replace your whole bed side?

no 04. he never got an estimate for that low. his estimate was for 1800 and his insurance is only giving him 1000. the only way that would be right is if his deductable was 800 bucks.
