so on car-part there is a 2003 LQ4 for sale that is very close to me. thing is it has 125,000 miles on it. i talked to the guy at the salvage yard and he said each cylinder has at least 185 lbs of compression. they tested it. they want $600 for it. would you buy it?

say i buy it. would it be worth opening it up and taking the heads off, etc, or should i just leave it and toss it in my truck? if i bought it i'd be putting in a cam, most likely something in the 224/224 range.

GRAB IT!
For cam choice i would look into the 226/226 range with a Yank SS3600
I would verify the pressure.
The most i would do is put an LS2 timing chain in it with some ARP rod bolts. I would do that all while swapping the cam
Contact SDPC for a cam install kit.
If you do decide to pull the heads be sure to order some new head gaskets at the same time as the cam stuff to save on shipping!

Go to the track run 11's drive back and get 18MPG* doing it (not the racing part lol)
The ss3600 is pretty damn tight UNTIL you floor it!
