Default The worst PITA install ever

This is the most hated thing I have ever installed on a vehicle. I have to replace the turn signal switch, so I figured 2 hours at the most started at 6pm. After getting the dash and column covers off, took off turn signal assembly and noticed wires snaked way back towards the fire wall. So had to take off bottom part of dash and heavy metal plate under steering column. Start fishing wires and notice they are wrapped all over and one goes around the comlumn and back to where my hand wont fit. So after messing with trying to free the "quick disconnects" its getting dim. Now I need a flash light find the mag light look around and notice a black cat walks right behind me and sits in the middle of the parking lot staring at me like bad luck just laughing saying your not gonna get out of this easy mmmuuuuuhhhhaaaaaa
so I commence to throw rocks at the black cat. Time to go back to work the flash light is very dim and flickering go get batteries and the old ones have all busted open and are stuck start beating on it and finally get one out now the others are stuck and wont come out and its to mangled to put the cap on **** it throw it away.

After 2 hours in 103 degree humidity Im soaked hatin life the dash is pulled apart wires are every were and I go to lock up the truck and notice the windows are down and of course they are powered through the module it just took me 2 hours to figure out how to disconnect. Im just hopping it doesnt rain.

I could have the swapped heads easier than this

edit:now its thundering outside time for round two

edit:in the rain

I dread the idea of doing any work to/inside a modern steering column. I replaced a turn signal canceller in a 77 Monarch but that was easy. Good luck!

If my signal switch ever goes bad I'm thinking it will stay bad.

much like my fuel sending(level) switch or what ever it is, it can bounce all day, i don't mind feeding it vs changing it.

I had to do exactly the same thing, only R&R 3 times in 2 weeks. First time was because something shorted out inside of switch causing turn signal to stay on, and is was smoking lke crazy, second time, the wipers ended up going out and I only had 1 speed - HIGH. Then, the damn cruise control wouldnt work on the third one. I'm on my fourth and hopefully final one now. I am the PRO at removing those things, I can get it done in 30 mins from beginning to end now! And those switches arent cheap, thank god for the Wyotech Student Discount at the dealership, 140 freakin dollars, luckily, only had to pay once!

Good luck with that!!

ok here is what you do.

1. find the black cat, soak it's tail in gas, light it and send the kitty on it's way howling.
2. get your old lady's bra, pantyhose's and a beer ( at least a 12 pack ice cold )
strip down to your bvd's, put your old lady's pantyhose on your head, hold the bra in your left hand and the beer in your right, now dance around in front of your house singing GET ER DONE THE RAIN IS NO FUN.
3. let your old lady video this so we can have a good laugh
4. when the cops show up because the neighbors called it in RUN LIKE HELL.
