Don't fell bad man, you are not the only one. I pay $1800 a year for my 99 silverado. My insurance doubled when i got this truck 2 years ago. Insurance sucks and when you need it, you always get the run around for money you already gave them. Isn't this why we pay for insurance?

You guys need to shop around.
I pay 600.00 a year for my 03, 400.00 a year for my 91, 60.00 a year for my 72, 180.00 for my 54 and my '70.
------
Rates depend on alot of thing and can differ from company to company
Many now rate you on your credit rating - got good credit
Some still rate on your driving record
And most all rate on your age and marital status.
If your over 25 is one break point and if your over 30 is another.
When you get married is another break point
-------
XLR - you are right about Michigan - it is a not fault state but bigger it is a PIP state
dont like it ? - talk to your senators
-------
Remember insurance companies are state regulated - they can do anything outside the state regulations or statues.

Best thing for lower rates is to work on the above and shop around. Gotta shop

500 a half is a little steep
what are your deductibles
another way to lower your premium - increase your deductible
I carry 500.00 deducts on everything.

Good luck!

Right now i pay Just under 4k a year..
Only went up like 50 a year going from the firebird to the truck.
I totalled my first car 9k for it and a few grand in medical bills. So a month later it went from 1700 every 6 months to just around 4k a year..

But next month all my records are wipped clean.
