Default wire loom's purpose

is the a purpose or reason for all the wire loom in the engine bay on the NBS gm trucks

except for looks from the factory

i know to leave the huge one going from the fuse box to the intake manifold(under engine cover)

im going to take all the ones around single wires off

i just want to make sure that they arent some sort of protection or something

i like to know what is running where and not just a wire loom

hell there was damn wire loom on the single wire going from the battery to that red battery box on the side of the alternator

looks. take a picture of that wire loomed engine bay. Then take all of those wire looms off and take another picture. Compare those 2 and get back to us.

i already took the two going from the positive side of the battery - one goes to the red battery box on the side of the alternator and and one went into the bottom of the fuse box i just went ahead and ripped them out

i just wanted to make sure i wasnt going to screw something up

i dont think im going to take the big one off going from the fuse box to the intake manifold
i dont even want to think about how many 18gauge wires are in that thing

id like to find something else to put it in though like a braided stainless steel line or something - its about 1.5 inches in diameter

Done that.... scary.... took every connector off, and used a cheap sleeving kit from a local auto parts store.... was a pain in the @$$ to get everything through it.... but it looked a lil better when done.... when i needed to get to a wire though..... it sucked
