Question Will a GMC remote work on a chevy?

Long story short, I was out on the lake with my buddy yesterday and I lost his key/ remote/ fob.. whatever you call it. Anyway, I need to buy him a replacement remote and key, and I found one, but the one I found is for a 2005-2006 GMC sierra. He has a 2005 Chevy silverado. Will the remote from the GMC work? Or should I keep looking until I find one for a Chebby?

Well don't quote me on this at all, but I imagine that if you get it programed to his truck it should work. I don't see any reason why not. I could be wrong tho, maybe someone with more knowledge on the subject will chime in.

Don't see it being a problem. Like said any remote is going to have to be programmed to the truck

Yea, I figured it'd need to be programmed. Thats no big deal, I found the instructions on how to do that , I just wanted to double check that the GMC would be programmable with the chevy codes. I asked the seller, and he said it would work, so I went ahead and bought it. I guess I'll find out for sure here in a couple days..
