the book is "how to build ls1/ls6" or something like that, has a lot of good info

Your right for the most part, but in a Blazer they are still gutless. I should have waited a while to find a better deal on a pickup. MPG is terrible, I thought I would do a little better than 14 on a small truck.

my modded ecsb 5.3 got better milage than my scsb 4.3 and hopefully my 5.7 will do better too. the only thing that the 4.3 has going for it is its decent power numbers and the fact that its dependable as hell. i know atleast 3 people who have atleast 250,000 miles on their 4.3's with minimal maintenance. change the fluids and those motors will go forever!

I did 243,000 miles out of my old 92 excab, and I bought it with 34K, but I can't say the same for the 5-speed that was in it, I had it replaced twice
