Default What technique do you use to pull the PS pulley

I have been using the pry bar between the pulley and bracket to keep it form spinning while I use the pulley puller. Im going to be painting the bracket and dont want to scratch it and am wondering if anyone has a better idea.

yea get a power steering puller and 2 wrinches and it comes off like cake and dont have to worry about holding the pully cuz it will not turn. pully puller = no bueno and will prob end up breaking the pully.

You can get a PS pulley puller from the parts store for around $10 and they might have an installer but if not you thread a bolt that is completely threaded in the center with a nut and washer on the bolt and press it back on using the nut and hoding the head of the bolt. Seems like an aweful lot of crap to go through to paint a bracket IMO.

IWAS NOT ASKING HOW TO DO IT. Im well aware of how to remove it and what tool and how to reinstall it. I was asking how to keep the pulley from turning without using the method I am. WHich is to put a pry bar between the pulley and acc. bracket to keep it from moving which also scratches the bracket. I dont think my puller has the nut to hold it in place like I have seen on some, or Im just fuggin tired and didnt notice it. Trans, t-case, and everything else motor related except block and heads is unbolted, almost done with removal

I stripped one of my ARP head bolts a little, couldnt use the impact since its so late and I would get chewed out since I live in apt complex. Any ideas on how ot get it out if the impact doesnt work tomorrow? Its the outside 13mm bolt between #2 and #4 cylinder.

I used an old belt.

Wrap an old belt around the pulley, use vice grips to clench it down so that it holds the pulley tight, then secure it to something. Then I used a little impact to drive the pulley off with the tools from the kit.
