Well, one of the standards of any civilized culture is courtesy towards other people, and empathy towards those who suffer. Lastly, I want to point out that disclaimers in this sort of situation just ring hollow and meaningless.

Yeah, I've actually posted stuff about pics of ricers and stuff and said that it looked retarded and such, never actually referred to an actual diesease or anything, but after posted thought that it was pretty stupid of me and that it might actually upset folks and went back and edited it.

i can take the "retarded" comments. everyone is human and that is just an expression. (like that honduh looks retarded) but when you compare something you don't like (or someone who you feel is ugly) with a person or peoples with disabilities then that is wrong. i hope that doesn't seem like i am playing on both sides of the fence.

I always see that pic that poeple post about "arguing on the internet is like running in the special olympics". That kind of stuff is very insensitive. I used to voluteer for miseracordia house, special olympics, etc. They are just regular people put in sometimes unfortunate situations. I dont have any family members with disabilities or chalenges(except social graces), but I do know where you are coming from. I usually try to understand that those people have probably never been exposed first hand to any situation like that, so just dont understand. Then I realize many of them are just ignorant.

i dont know if i could say the guys disclaimer was totally hollow. i mean no one told him he had to put it there, it shows that he at least was knowledgeable of what he was doin unlike the person who said something about midgets later down the page with no remorse. some credit has to be given to the guy for what he did do. . .
