I don't know who told you this, but STS doesn't have a problem with you towing, in fact, that's one of there sell pitches. It's the livernoris kit that doesn't recommend towing over 500 lbs. There are several guys on here with 6l and STS's towing larger trailers w/out any problems. I tow with my 4.8 and it does great. I haven't towed anything real heavy, about 3-4000 lbs. It doesn't down shift hardly at all when and pulls the hills great, just uses a little more fuel . I'm very happy with the performance of my 4.8 STS and the trans with vette servo and shift kit is still hold strong running 7lbs of boost after 15,000 miles w/ the turbo.

Your right about the livernoris kit, and not towing. But from what Ive seen 1600* egt is insane.

I'm more concerned with the trans than the motor...it pulls good down here in the flat lands but I want to be able to go thru the mountains to North Carolina and Arkansas.

I have a tune and am thinking about getting a retune now that I'm running 93 oct. I have scaning software and I need to scan while towing and send it to Lyndon for a retune.

I'd love a Radix but I know I'd trash my 60E cause I know I wouldn't be able to keep my foot out of it when not towing. I've read here about people towing with the STS with no problems but I'm concerned about the trans with any FI.

How much better is a 4L65 for towing?
