Default What makes the 02 faster?

I just raced a buddy of mine on my 02 scsb 5.3, 3.73 open with his 00 scsb 5.3 3.73 locking. We did not even bother from a dead stop as we knew what would happen. However, we did froma a 25pmh roll. My passenger side wheel still came a little loose but still got good traction. I only have a UPD and he a has a K&N intake kit and flowmaster exhoust. I still beat about a truck length to about 80mph and I was still pulling slowly. My truck has 17k miles and his has about 39k. What is the deal with the 02 5.3's?

My '03 4.8 picks up pretty good, but its lacking the torque I felt on my '00 5.3 that I can definitely feel, but I like the way it feels like it squats....i dont remember my 00 doing that.

get some more mods on the 02 and we can line them up. i havent raced a 02 or 03 similarly modded 5.3, but i'd like to know how they run.

Does anybody know for sure why the 02s are a little faster? I thought they still use the same cam from 2000+?

Sure...! First things first.... no sence in making more power if I can't hook. Next thing I am getting is an Eaton posi.

why don't you just swap rear ends w/ your ext. cab truck? if your other truck has 3.73's and an auburn posi i would.
