i have been looking at Z71 around my area and i found a good deal but it feel thru, i was wondering what i should look for when buying my new truck, like common problems, or certian features, this is what i am basically looking for; 99-01 silverado ecsb Z71 preferably 4 door. any help, oh by the way is there any difference between the 99 and 00 years, like engine or anything? thanks.

The only problem area I would be weary of is the transmission. Make sure the fluid is clean and that the tranny doesn't slip. I don't think they are really any other problem areas on a stock truck. I would get a 00, the 99's are very detuned, and stock produce about 15 less horsepower. I also think they had more problems with engine knock in 99 than the other years.

Thats what I was thinking. I'd stay away from the 99's. People have been chasing down the PCM problems for quite some time, but the PCM's can be swapped and tuned. Creederado did it, I think, but one other thing had to be modified to keep the SES light off.

the only difference between the 4.8l and the 5.3L is 15hp and around 25ftlbs of torque. If you're not going to be racing this truck, I don't think you'll notice a difference.

well i was going to put headers and other performance things, but would not be racing it one any kind of a regular bassis, plus i thought that bec it does weigh less than the ecsb it would be about the same.

I've got a RCSB with the 4.8, and the motor does really well. The Gen III GM motors are awesome. I pull my race car with it with no problem. Mine is a 4wd with tow package.

i think this one has about the same options on it too, the only thing i really don't like is the rims, (steel chrome) but i would swap them out for the alloy ones.

Yeah, it sounds like it is a pretty decent deal. On a side note, what are you asking for the WS6?
