Wireless still requires internet in your house, or neighbors . You just put a card in your laptop,in my case, and it is transmitted from a router at the main computer. Its kick a** to sit in the chair , and surf the net.

No, not the same thing. It similar, but on a MUCH bigger scale. There is a guy here in town that started up are WISP (Wireless Internet service provider). He has 2 T1 lines right now that are hooked into some antennas mounted on top of some grain towers and water towers and broadcasting antennas towers around town. Those antennas transmit to a modem on the side of my house and then there is a cat 5 wire into router in the house. Most big city have several WISP and there getting more popular in small rural areas because they can transmit 20-25 miles line of sight with the directional antennas. Do a search on the internet for WISP in your area on the internet and look in the phone book, you might find a company doing it there.

but reminds me of a funny story about a cable line. At work we live in mobile homes and at the old base the mechanics trailer was by the road. The cable tv line came down from the utility pole accross a shell drive along side the trailer. Well one morning we were watching tv before work and one of the oil company buses took the wrong entrance to the base and came along side our trailer. It caught the cable and pulled it along and while we were watching the tv all of a sudden the tv went flying along the wall and flew out the window we all just went then started busting out laughting. Well...it was funny at the time.
