Default What a difference gears make

My friend just got his car back yesterday, he has a I believe a 1992 Camaro Z28 (Pearl green, ram air hood, 17" Torque Thrust 2's, headers, etc...very sweet car) He just swapped out his stock gears which were in the 2.-- range for brand new 3.73 gears. He droped his e.t. by 1.01 sec!!!!! he can't believe the huge difference. He said its like he just installed a supercharger. On top of that the guy that put in his gears noticed that when he opened his rear differential that most of his gears and other units were shot and that it was useless to install the 3.73 gears. luckily the guy had a spare unit that included posi which he threw in his car for free!!!!! So he got his gears and posi installed for only $100. Thats the guys thats going to install mine. He can now leave two 50ft long black stripes on the road, he loves them. Even though I'm only getting 3.73's I can't wait for mine o be installed. Just had to let you guys know of my friends car, he wanted me to post the details of how much he loves his gears.

Yea, going from 2.73-3.73 in a fbody is a huge difference. A friend of mine went from stock 3.23 in his 97 Cobra to 4.30. Now that was a huge difference!

Yep, I have a buddy that went from 3.27 to 4.56's in his '96 cobra, It has a pulley and an X-pipe and runs low to mid 12's all day long. Not bad for a Slobra!

Yeah, but damn going that much higher kills drivability on the street.
