Went to Sacramento raceway last night and my night was nothing special. Couldn't get close to my best of 14.85, had 6 runs between 15.00-15.14. Made it to the fourth round of racing before I got beat by about a bumper, oh well. Now the diesels. These guys had to have been friends, they all show up at the same time, 4 were driving 2500 Dodge ext cabs with Cummins TD and one driving a Ford F250 crew cab with a Powerstroke TD. All were 4x4's and were lifted 4-6" with big *** off road tires on them. They didn't sound quite like a diesel I've normally heard, nothing outragous but not quite the same. First the Ford goes and runs like a 14.8, that got my attention. Then a couple of the Dodge's ran 14.5's and I was like damn! Then another Dodge runs 13.98 and everybody went "holy ****"! Then the last Doge goes and clicks off a 13.01, WOW! That was during time trials and I didn't see them go in the bracket racing much. I was at the end of the line and got tired of walking back and forth to watch the racing. After I won a couple of rounds, I was much closer to the starting line and watch the quickest of the bunch run again in his bracket race. He dialed a 12.90 and ran a ......................... 12.69. I couldn't believe my eyes. All the trucks just BELLOWED black smoke when they ran, the fastest truck being the worst. It seemed like, the faster it was, the more it smoked. Overall I had a good time but I was a little disappointed with my times. The weather was good, 70* when we started with a DA of 1314 and 54* on my last run with a DA of 196. So I cant' blame the weather, traction was a bitch though and the 10 mph head wind I'm sure hurt a little but it's not an excuse. The harder I launched, the worst my 60's were. Hummm, I may have to look at a diesel! LOL!

More fuel = More smoke.
The fast Dodge more than likely had upgraded the injectors and probably the injector pump too (plus stacked chips, turbo mods, etc).
Up the boost...add more fuel...get ready for a smoke show.

The extra 4k I paid for the Dmax is a steal. When I get rid of it at 100k it will sell for 5-6k more than the same truck with a gasser. The 7-8 k I will save in fuel costs and the added performance are icing on the cake.I look at it as buying my power-adder from the factory with a warranty.I love the look on the gasser HD owners face when my crewcab longbed 4x4 pulls away from them.Kinda reminds me of the Dodge Hemi commercial.

I like the plumes of black smoke pouring out when under full boost, full load when programmed. I am going to make it a point to get a digital camcorder and purposely find a person with with a convertible and a chick with them and Power brake/brake torque right in front of them and fill their faces full of diesel smoke!
