warranty problem please help
#11
Does nobody on this site know anyone in the GM Canada or GM USA warranty departments? BlownEscalade is getting such a raw deal here, I can't believe GM is actually contemplating letting this charade continue, in this day and age of information spread over the web. The Bad PR to be generated by this case is going to be worth so much more in negative $$$ to GM than any amount it would take to fix the problem.
The solution is simple - BlownEscalade's warranty finally was registered with GM yesterday - almost a month after he purchased the vehicle. But now he has put on more than the 5000 km contained in his warranty, and his attempts to get his vehicle fixed prior to the warranty miling out were thwarted by the fact that SOMEONE at GM (Dealer, GM Canada - should it really matter - it is GM!) did not get his information entered into the system. So now that the info is FINALLY in the system, give him 5000 km and make things right. Simple as that. Is that going to break GM????
I don't really think that BlownEscalade should have to pump out a couple thousand dollars to get a lawyer and take GM to court over something as simple as this.
So again - does anyone know anyone out there who knows someone at GM?? We need to find a reasonable person somewhere within that company. They must be out there somewhere???????

You keep saying "GM" like it's their fault. It's the dealers fault not GM's. I've been a GM tech for 18 years and have never heard of an "Optimum Inspected" warranty. That sounds like some aftermarket crap the dealer sold him. GM has "GM Certified" vehicles that have to go through an inspection process to be eligible to be certified. I've never heard of any "Optimum" anything. I bet the dealer dropped the ball on this one.

So at the end of the day, I think GM the automaker should put some heat on GM the dealer to make this issue go away quietly. I don't think it is a real clever marketing ploy to **** off someone in their mid 20's who can already afford an Escalade....I think the chances that he might buy some more high end GM products in the next 30 years might be high if this was just handled properly. At any rate time will tell.

p.s. all the dealers in Alberta (Canada for that matter) sell used GMs with an Optimum warranty, meaning the vehicle is supposed to have undergone fairly rigorous testing and associated repair prior to sale.

The dealers are independantly owned, not by GM and they sell different warranties. Some even have their own warranties. These aftermarket warranties are not affiliated with GM so therefore GM has no say in how the dealer handles a warranty claim that is not a GM warranty. The only authority GM has is with new vehicles and factory warranty concerns. The rest is up to the dealer. The dealer is not really even required to work on anybody's car, under warranty or not. I'm not saying the guy isn't entitled to something. I think the dealer he bought it from should step up and fix it. I was just saying that I've never heard of any Optimum Warranty from GM. I don't think it is a GM warranty, I think it's something the dealer sold him. I may be wrong but I think in 18 years I would have heard of it if it existed through GM. The only GM affiliated extended warranty is GMPP or General Motors Protection Plan which if he had the "Major Guard" policy, it would cover most anything except cosmetics or wear items. Now I've seen cases where in Canada, things were done different than in the states, so it could be possible the Optimum is a Canandian thing. It definately doesn't exist around here. Good luck.

This is the G.M.P.P warranty. Translated = General Motors Protection Plan. Probably "GM Certified" in the US and "Optimum" in Canada. It did go through a so called GM inspection when the dealership got the vehicle from the previous owner

Can you find the person at the dealership that set you up with it? Have their name? Make sure you have dates and times of ALL contact you had with them when they told you that it would be covered.

you have to read the story to understand where i am going. back in 95 i bought a used nissan 4x4 with an extended warranty, at 54k the engine started using oil, the dealership could not find the leak, so they told me to just watch the oil level, i was only 19 at the time, so they probably thought they were being sneaky. they changed the oil on a friday, i did around 200 miles that weekend going to work, on monday it was two and half quarts low. they still said that nothing could be done under warranty unless the engine was broke. after about two more weeks, the engine started ticking then dropped number six, have you ever ran through the gears on a v6 with only five pistons? pretty cool, anyway, after a month of the truck sitting down at the dealership, i was told that the engine was not under warranty. being pretty pissed off about the run around, nissan had given me the loan, (in your case, this could be GMAC) well, i called the loan customer service department, i told this very nice lady the whole story, i have proof that the vehicle was serviced and such by that dealership. then i dropped the bomb on her, at the time i only had the truck for about 6 or 8 months, so about 90% of the loan was still owed, very nicely i told the lady were nissan could repo the truck, again, nissan had given me the loan, i was not about to make another payment on it until it was fixed. she took down the number were i was calling from, within an hour, she called back and told me that everything was taken care of, my truck will be fixed and then they waived my payment for that month. i then received a phone call from the dealership manager who then said, i think a fake, sorry. well, long story, but i think you get the idea, i used the repo as a threat, things got done.

yeah but my loan is through the bank. not GMAC otherwise it could work. The bank wouldn't really care. I have called GM, GMPP, and Cadillac warranty place and nothing really so far. Only thing they wil do is warranty one window motor. Why not both? I am really hetting pissed off with this now. I am starting to turn away from GM vehicles especially Cadillacs.

go get some sticky letters, put on the back window a little something that says where you bought it, it's a lemon, was sold an extended warranty, dealership put money for warranty in pocket and never activated the warranty and will not fix anything wrong with lemon, need lawyer who would like to rip dealer a new a$$ whole, please call 000-000-0000.
i will ask my brother if he knows anything that you can do, but you need a lawyer.
and also, drive around the dealership with the letters on it, you could even get them to change the oil for you so other customers can see it, just don't make them mad.
