Then I went from the K&N to the Volant system with scoop, and it felt the same as the K&N to me. I like the closed system and scoop though as the fit and fitment on mine is great (although I read a thread where one guy's Volant air box wasn't properly drilled for the MAF sensor), I looks nice, and I feel like I'm utilizing a system that is theoretically the best technology available...FWIW (shrugging my shoulders as I type lol).

make your own.. use the holes in the bumber below the grill, above the license plate. I used thin guage steel from home depot, built it myself, welded up the seema, added a 4" air duct collar, added aluminum 4" ducting, total cost was $25.00 and looks better than volant one. Besides its up higher, to avoid water. There is plenty of clearance behind the bumper all the way to lower base of air cleaner assembly. thed cut bottom of o.e. air box, add 4" collar, or build new support plate, add 4" collar and uses k&n, or whatever cold air sys.

I've seen a couple of home made scoops that looks pretty decent...

I took pics of mine yesterday, hopefully I'll get a chance to upload them tonight
