VMAX questions
#1
Hello guys,
Let me just introduce myself. I've been a forum member on LS1Tech for some time now with another name. I used to own a TA, then a Vette. I now recently purchased an 07 nnbs VMAX ext cab reg bed. I've been reading more than posting lately & I know a decent bit about my truck. I've ordered Volants intake (had it on my previous Tahoe), about to order a Magnaflow and blackbear tune to finish her off. Kinda contemplating a 3000 stall but my VMAX has a 3" lift with 33's so I'm pretty much out of the racing scene. I may fool around with a rival on the streets here and there, but that's not what I'm doing my mods for. the following mods are mainly for fuel mileage (makes me feel better to justify it that way).
My question is, does the VMAX come with a 90mm t/b? Most of my mileage will be hwy, but would a converter hurt MPG?
One last question. With my current setup, my dic says I'm getting 15MPG on the hwy average. What would that be corrected? 16-17?
Thanks guys

All GMT900 have 87mm TBs
Theoretically, a higher stalled torque converter would not hurt highway mileage, but don't let anyone fool you, there will be a reduction in mileage.
Fill up your tank, reset your odometer, then see how many miles between you next fill-up and compare to miles. Only way to get true mileage. The DIC is close, but it can't really be "corrected."

the stall will hurt you some in the city or stop and go traffic. i seen zero loss in mpg however on a 1500 mi road trip when i put my stall in bc the tc locks the whole time. stalls are a great mod imo i say do it. i dd a 3200

Oh trust me... I miss the vette a lot!! I sold the vette for a Tahoe because I had a new addition to my family & with that being my daily driver wouldn't go over so well with the wifey. I didn't have the money to keep the vette AND a family vehicle so that's just a decision I made. Tahoe was totaled about 3 months ago and I liked the platform so much I wanted another. Ended up with the VMAX instead. I tell myself it's for the better, but inside I really wish I still had it..
Plus I was making 450rwhp and getting 28mpg.. NOBODY believed it, but if you had one, you know it's true.
