Default Very Very Very Weird!!!! Need All Help Possible!!

ok guys, I've never seen anything this weird...let me explain it real quick..

I have a friend with a 5.3 single cab chevy, fully bolt on, cam and stall. Stall is a Quality Convertor, they are famous over here in the Valley, guaranteed to get killer 60fts. Tombstone has one and hits 1.6x 60fts consistently. And all other trucks running one hit consistent 1.7x and 1.6x 60fts...Here is the weird part, wen he first put his cam, a couple of us raced him in the street and he beat all of us. He beat me by a truck and a fender. So we all thought he was going to be in the 12s easily. .Track time comes, he hits a best 13.5@100mph with a 2.1 60ft...He thinks its the convertor not working so he takes it back to QC gets it re-stalled and refurbished from a 3200 to a 3400 and gets it loosened up as well. .Robert at QC told him absolutely nothing was wrong with the convertor.. Convertor feels even better than before with the re-stall. . at the track last night, 1st run, 13.8@100 with a 2.4 60ft, and the next 2 were a 13.5@101mph with a 2.1 60ft, all runs hooking....out of frustration, after the track he races a single cab 5.3 truck hitting 12.8s consistently and beats him by a fender..WTF???...oh and I failed to mention, the truck his convertor was on before was an 07 chevy fully bolt on/cam and was breaking 1.6x 60fts as well and on nitrous 1.5x 60fts.

What in the world can be wrong with this truck????? it sucks at the track but a monster in the street.

What is it flashing to? Sounds like it is too low of a stall and too tight; that is weird.

actually man, it's a very loose stall...i'm a fan of loose stalls and wen his stall was a 3200, it felt a little to tight for me, so he got it loosened up and now it feels great...it break stalls to 34, 3500.

What gears and tire size is he runnin? If he's beatin everybody on a roll, maybe it's a gearing issue? How about the PCM tuning, could there be something there that's giving him a problem from a dead stop?

I have out run some mid 14 seconds vehicles from a roll, Hell on the interstate I had a stock WS6 worried for a little while.

I run 15.34 was my best. I have a 2.2 60 as my best.

Sounds to me like he needs gears, shorter tire maybe or still have some TM in the tune

What are his cam specs?? Race him from a dig on the street and see what happens. If he beats you guys from a dig on the streets and runs slower in the 1/4 than you guys at the track that would be weird.

Sometimes I think I get better traction on the street than on the strip. If I mash it from a dig on the road I might bark the tires but usually just hook up and go, at the track I know I spin here and there. The only explanation I can think of is asphalt is rough and easier to bite for street tires than the slick track with rubber layed everywere...who knows Either way his 60's are way off compared to his ET's, are you sure he's hooking good at the track?? Let him borrow a set of slicks for the track maybe.
