Ok so me n buddy along with a few to help out got his v8 swap done on his '04 silverado. Motor is out of a '02, harness is from an '03, and computer vin is from an '04 5.3 sierra.....
Its getting fuel and motor is spinning. So far the only things that we are seeing issues with is..... No spark and its throwing an p0315 code (Crankshaft position (CKP) system variation values are not stored in the PCM memory)
Any suggestions on where to go from here?
we were thinkin mabe bc of different reluctor tooth number. but we found from 99-04 is 24 and up to some 07s. the rest were 58x.

check the ground wires.
on the back of the block, right next to the oil pressure sender
front lower cross member
alternator bracket that goes to the side of the block
ground strap that goes from the back of the block to the fire wall.

Security system may have tripped... I had to do a security system relearn after swapping the PCM in my truck. it's about a 30-45 minute deal.
Key on for 10 minutes,
Key off for 10-12 seconds,
Key on for 10 minutes
Key off for 10-12 seconds
Key on for 10 minutes
Key off for 10-12 seconds
I don't remember for sure, but you may need to bump the starter on the second and 3rd key turns.
Try and turn the motor over. You will also have to do a crank relearn, something that you have to do after swapping a PCM, you can do it with a laptop and scan cable using EFIlive software. That could be causing your crank position sensor issue.
A dealership with a tech-II scan tool should also be able to do a crank relearn for you, but it'll probably cost you a couple hundred.
