Default Type Of Gas In Max Truck

Does anyone know what kind of fuel you can use in the max trucks? A friend of mine has one but was told he has to use the 93 octane fuel. i would love to have the truck but i don't see a need to get it if i have to use 93 octane fuel. is this true? if so what would happen if you used the 87 octane?

Why would that sway your decision? Its only $5 per fill up (figuring a .20 difference between 87, and 93 and filling up with 25 gal.)

I think the CR is a bit high for 87, but you could probably get away with it with a little de-tuning

If you use the 87 octane fuel the pcm will switch over to the low octane table, causing the truck to run on the reduced timing curve. This will cause lower power and less fuel milage. I agree on the cost issue, it's barely any difference on a fill up to use premium.

it costs like $4 more each tank then when I used to run 87...I work with a guy that has an 05 VHO and he tried to run 87 and it "pinged like hell"

I run 87, no problems, except when the timing was turned up. Then it was a popcorn machine.

Spark knock can occur without you hearing it. You're only hearing it when the pcm can't back the timing off enough.
