We also had some stuff in the cab of his and 4 of us. I would say a good 7000-7500 lbs of extra junk and it got just over 10mpg on I-30 from SA to Waco holding 65-70 fairly steady. I was impressed to say the least.

Next time you might try parking your truck backwards on the trailer. That first pic looks like there is alot of weight on the tongue. Make the trailer carry the weight, not the tow truck.

We thought about that but decided the aerodynamics would be horrible that way. It would have had to move air for the tailgate, then the back glass which are both straight edges as opposed to the grille and windshield, which are slanted.
I think it's worth saying too, the first hitch was overloaded no doubt on the overall weight and tongue weight. The factory one was more than likely overloaded on tongue weight, and pushing hard at the overall weight. It still handled it like a champ.

All I can say is loading it backwards you wont be able to do more than 65 mph. Trust me, this is how we loaded it going to san antonio.
after the shootout we loaded the truck forwards, and was able to drive 70-75 with out the trailer trying to get away from the Yukon.
there was just tomuch wind resistance loading it backwards
, make your butt pucker when that trailer started to weave back and forth behind the Yukon.

LMAO .. I hate trailer sway. Once I had 3 4wheelers on my 8x16, two Grizzly 660's front to back pulled all the way up, and a little Ozark on the back sideway. I got going down I-20 about 75, a desiel blew by and the trailer started swaying bad. All I could do was counter steer and hope for the best while we coasted to a slower speed. Luckily it came down safely. After that .... you could see the *** imprints on the seat when we got out of the truck.
