Default Transfer case problem...I think

OK so I went out today to take a 2000 Chev Silverado 4x4 Rcsb for a test drive, when I got it the guy already had it in 4Low ( push button transfer case with auto trac) anyways first thing I noticed I shifted it in gear and let off the break and the truck kinda jerked up to speed, then driving down the road I pushed the button for 2wd and the little light blinked and blinked and stoped and it was still in 4wd so I pushed 4 hi button, and it did the same thing, so anyways I get out onto the main road and put the peddel down pretty good, and it was getting up around 6-7000 rpm and didnt shift? so I turned around brought the truck back and told the guy and after I left he called me and said the truck warmed up for a bit then it would shift into 2wd, so I stopped at the local dealer and they said bring it in and they will look at it for free, but i thought Id ask you guys first to take a crack at it. What do you guys think it is? The truck if fully loaded and Im getting it for 10,000 taxes in, and he said if there something wrong with it he will pay to get it fixed, but its kinda sketching me out a bit, can anyone help

sorry about that long post, Im kinda fustrated

yeah, I found that out when I got back from the test drive, but we put it in neutral and it still wouldnt shift from any 4wd setting 2wd, it wouldnt even shift from 4hi to 4 low, and whats the jerky accleration / high rpms caused by?

ok, howcome it wouldnt shift out of 4wd when I was stopped and it was inneutrual? Its hard to explain the jerking I was talking about, the jerking happened as soon as I put it in gear. Also when i stepped on the gas it went up around 7000 rpm and didnt shift, or am I still sounding dumb hear? anyone know what i mean?

yea i thought id try to use 4lo in my dads dmax one time when he first got it and it was pouring rain out, it jerked and revved and it just didnt seem right but put it in 4hi and it did great

my advice is if you get it, put it in 4hi only unless absolutely necessary, like said above
