If you run a stock 4L60E, they aren't designed to handle horsepower add on's over 50HP and if you drive it hard and spin out or brake torque it alot, then they won't handle alot of that either.
Sun Gears are bad, bad, bad to just come apart inside there. Think of it like a stock G80 differential.

the 4l60e was not the best choice for gm to put in full size trucks. If your not going to add any performance upgrades and don't beat on your truck all the time your truck should be fine with a stock trans

Its stock except for a flowmaster, dont even have an intake yet and it already blew up at 15,000 miles. And I dont drive it excessively hard, would it be ok with at least an intake and tune.I do have 22' wheels, dont know if that help contribute to the problem.I had an idea about a magnussen blower, but dont know now.

Crap TW, you guys are averaging about 1 60E every 2 weeks...not to mention the out of warranty 60E's that go to outside shops...
BTW, blew mine at 59.6k with mild setup in sig with no torque management for 23K...surprise that it lasted that long with my spirited driving habits

In my 08 its been having problems since 10k miles. Had it in several times and had them drive along and do it. All they do is change the shift points and say its not normal driving conditions bsbs. Lol service guy said next time blow it up before you bring it back so they dont have questions. So ive been trying to get it to go boom for awhile no with no luck with the tune in it,but no tune it slips all over the place, stuck in 2nd at times etc. Owell i already have an 80e lined up to go in when it does go.

Lol....hey Budhayes, the 60E is one of my bestsellers!!! That and the front differentials out of the 1500 and 2500's and the Transfer Cases. But...the only good thing is that GM's new replacement warranty. If you buy a powertraion itme like and engine, tranny, or transfer case, you get 3 years or 100,000 mile warranty...lol....

I **** out my first 60E trans at 17,000 miles, my second one is starting to go at around 40,000 and thats with me driving like a wimp and saving for a FLT level 7, or a 4L80E swap!

I must be real lucky mine is stock 100 percent 52k. I have a ton of mods maggie 3.1 pulley, black bear tune, LT, Y pipe, exhaust, intake. I'm getting ready to do the gt2-3 and heads. Better get me a tranny, this one may go boom soon.
