Default tranny temp gauge(4l60e)

Just ordered a 3 gauge pillar for the truck I got an exhaust temp gauge/ oil temp gauge, and transmission temp gauge. my plan is to tee the tranny temp gauge into the line before the cooler. does anyone have any suggestions before I mess something up again? lol and one more question does anyone know the size of those metal cooler lines? Im guessing 5/16 ill have to get my calipers out to check but just seeing if anyone can save me the time
