The 99-00 Lightnings ran mid 14's, the 01 and newer are closer to low 14's or high 13's. From what I've read, it takes about 1K to get them into the 12's, get a pulley, intake and chip, and they run high 12's. Name me one GM truck currently made that even does mid 14's stock, the Silverado SS is a joke as far as straight line performance for what they cost. If you want to get a Gibbs or Chapman truck do it. Some people are GM die hards and that fine, if I find another truck that I like better, I don't care if it isn't a GM. Some won't buy the Titan or Tundra just because it's Japanese, even if they were better trucks (not saying they are, just if). I may go drive a Titan, if I like it, I may buy if it does what I need and does them better than my Silverado, who knows? All these aftermarket sound systems guys are buying for their trucks, I'll bet most aren't made in the USA. And, the Titan and Tundra my be Japanese in design but they're both assembled in the US. Are good old US trucks, are assembled in Canada and Mexico.

If a GM truck came with a Radix from the factory, then you could compare the 2 fairly and this argument would be over because the GM truck would kick the L's ***.
Yes, the SS is a joke, but you can't compare a huge ext cab truck to an L either
I'm like you, if I like something I'll buy it regardless of the fact where it's built or if it's "American" or not.
You want to know what it is about Ford? I don't like how they dealt with that "little" Firestone tire blowout deal where more than 100 people died. Not to mention the fact, as I said before, that the 2 Fords I have owned were pieces of ****. I just will not even take Ford into consideration anymore. I'd rather buy a Scion than a Ford

"Live in the USA - Work in the USA - Built in the USA"
I thought - Typical dumbass - doesnt even know where his truck is made.

[QUOTE=Chingon]Look, the fact of the matter is you can't compare the L to any GM truck simply because no GM truck comes from the factory with a blower. So I guess let's just not compare the 2.

Agreed, apples and oranges. I would like to see the Silverado set up the same (from the factory) as the Lightning, it would be fun to run them and I wish GM would make one. I think GM has dropped the ball on the performance aspect of their trucks and cars. Dodge has the PVO division, Ford has SVO, what does GM have? ZERO! On some issues, we have to agree to disagree. Not just you and I on this issue, but I've seen others go round and round over things that don't really have a definite answer. We all have our likes and dislikes, period.

you are forgetting that even though its a Ford product, it is created by the SVT department which is superior in performance vehicles, example the Cobra.
Its not just a single cab F150 with a blower.

i think that the lightning is a great truck, and because it was developed by svt i dont really consider it a ford, cuz fords do suck
but i have to say that taking a comparable gm truck, shortbed whatever, slap on a blower, some shocks, sway bars beefed up tranny and rear will not only beat even a modded L but also come out less. now thats apples to apples, if you plan on keeping the L stock, then its definatly a better deal becuase everything is under warranty, but seriously, can you HONESTLY say that you wont mod the truck?
hell no you cant! but if you can control yourself then by all means go ahead, i love the l, but i just like the fact that ppl would look at a truck and think just that, ooh a truck, then they get their asses burned and boom! but everyone knows about the L... well enough of my rambling, the point is the L is great if your not modding, but chances are you will, a modded gm will cost less and outperform a l in every category if built right, and neither would have warrantys, but thats my opinion, and have fun with the L!!
