Default Towing

im curious to see if anyone has towed a small encolsed trailer (20-24) ft with a car in it using a suburban or a tahoe with a 5.3?

my suburban has a 5.3 and im curious to see how bad it would be if i tried pulling a small enclosed with my camaro in it.... my camaro weigh's about 3100lbs and it would only be for about 60 miles or so with no hills what so ever ..... mostly highway which im sure is fine but what about stop lights?

thanks in adavnce

You should be fine. It won't be a power monster but it's not too bad. There's some good low-end torque available to get things moving. I have towed a 6000 lb boat with a stock 2000 Suburban and it feels fine until you get to a big hill, then I have to leave it in 2nd to keep freeway speed. You probably won't be able to get away with using OD unless coasting downhill, but it will do fine pulling in 3rd.

I think it would do fine. I would look at getting some air over load bags for the rear. My buddys tahoe seems like it has soft springs in back. And if he puts a load on it it hits the ground.

I would definately get a cooler if you dont already have one, and a set of trailer brakes, if you will be doing alot of light to light driving. Do you have 4.10's or the 3.73's

thanks a ton guys, im a frequent ls1tech reader and its nice to see a site for my truck too..... not sure what my rear end ratio is, yeah i would tow in 3rd and seeing how its in IL there are no hills. anything i can do to the rear suspension to help tow a load like that? but at the same time i dont want to change the everyday ride.
