Default Totaled or Not?

Just got hit yesterday. The damage is not too severe, the passenger side door is trashed and wont close, the cab behind and below it is damaged beyond pop and pull repair. cutting and welding will be required and the bed is bent in some close to the cab.

Wont hear from insurance until monday.

My main question is the truck is probably only worth around 6-8k ( 2003 RCSB LS 5.3 with 20" VHO rims, 100k miles) front bumper and drivers door are damaged from previous accidents. so im afraid there gonna total it.

Just looking for some input from anyone who has been through this.

I'd say not. Right now insurance companies are really pouring money into cars before declaring them a total loss.

its a possibility that they may total it....most insurance companies total at 75% so say it was worth 8K it would take 6K to call it totaled, and trust me the cost add up fast!!

a friend of mine has an 03 cadillac, hit a bear at 70, blew airbags, destroyed front of car, ripped seatbelts out of the floor, tore the car up pretty bad, insurance company is fixing it although i dont know just how much the damage was.

that being said, i think you will get your truck fixed

haha, he was with his g/f driving back from NC on 17. saw a bear crossing sign and told his g/f it would be funny if he hit one, she told him that if you do hit and and leave it there to die you may be fined, as he laughed about it a bear ran out in front of him. after the airbag deflated he let off the gas and stopped with the bear still about 50 ft in front of the car making noises like a dieing sheep.
