Default To top off a bad day....

I guess I won't be climbing this tower anymore. Glad see see everyone got down safe. She was a pig anyways. A crew was trying to beef her up when she collasped.

It's not everyday a tower falls down. And when you work on them it doesn't sit well in your mind.

I remember when they had a 2000' tower down here in Texas collapse several years ago. I believe a couple people didn't make it out of that one though.

I'm on our high angle rescue team here at work, so I'm no stanger to heights, rapelling, pic-offs, confined spaces etc..., But open towers....NO WAY!!!!!

Is that the one that collapsed while they were hoisting a HUGE 2 piece broadcast antenna to the top? Is so, they had that on Modern Marvels: Engineering Disasters. That was one episode I didn't need to watch, especially with my dad in the room. I think 5 of the tower crew was killed.

We're trained in tower rescue. It's amazing how the specialists have catered to us the past few years. Not too long ago, we were doing 2 man descents on 8-Plates. Now we have this tricked cammed device that you strap to the tower, clip yourself/victim on, and let go! Wonder if that crew had one or if they had to scurry down the tower?
