Default Tire shopping

Why is it so difficult to find a decent tire at a reasonable price. I am talking to my rep who gives me cost on tires and they are outrageous! I am doing a staggared set up and then i can't seem to find but a few companies that are offering the two tires i want in the same tread pattern!

265/50/20
295/45/20

So far Hankook ventus s/t is the only tire that has both sizes for under 600 bucks!

where are the good deals on tires?

Aren't those sizes a bit oddball...?

Then again, if you are getting a set for 600 bucks, I'd say that is pretty decent. I'm getting today a set of 285/50-20 Falkens put on @ Discount Tire and I have to pay 750 bucks.

I paid $150 a piece for my Nitto's. 295/45ZR18 NT-05 then again I get a pretty sweet deal on my tires. After wore out 2 of my tires I ended up using some used Kuhmo 255/55-18 that were take offs from a customers car because they didn't like them. They were 2 months old, still have 9/32 of tread on them, I paid $20 for both

That's the only reason I don't have those big fancy rims on my truck. I've got the stock 16's, and tires aren't outrageous. Mines not strictly a street macine either though. It's 2WD, but it sees it's share of off the beaten path use during hunting season. I usually get a good set of Cooper AT's, but i'll probably get a set of Cooper MT this time around. Probably be around 800 installed. The AT's go for around 600 installed I think.

16's aren't any cheaper than 20's really. I bought 255/70 16's and a set of 275/45 20's, so basically the same physical diameter tire and they cost about the same. The prices only start to deviate once you get up in the silly size double xl sizes.

LOL I hear you. There was a time, however, when anything above a 16" was crazy. But, that was a while back, and I haven't priced anything above a 16" rim in a very long time. I'm actually getting close to needed a new set myself. It's going to hurt when I have to come up with the cash.

Maybe a little bit, though. The same Falkens I'm getting cost $115 in 255/70-16 vs. $155 for the 285/50-20.

160 bucks overall could be a lot for many people, but when comparing the look of the truck w/16s vs. 20s, IMO the price difference is definitely worth it.

All I run is michelin and my ******* aches every time I get near a discount tire. No matter what size they start at a grand and go up from there. My wifes jeep 17's 1100 my s10 16's 975, my nnbs 20's 1300 fuggin ouch already. Damm car shoes are pricey.

Well... You gotta pay to play, especially if you are so stuck on that one particular tire., so suck it up and pay. IMO, 540 bucks is not bad at all.
