Default Tire pressure ?

Ok, simple ? What do you set the tire pressure to and why ? Door placard says 35psi but that was for O.E.M. tire. Max pressure on new tires says 44psi. so which one ???

Zed

P.S. This is normal everyday cruising down the highway.

I always shoot for around the door spec, and adjust from there. My door says 30psi.

I normally run 32-33F, 30R.

I run 32-33F, 35-40R when towing.

I can chime in on why I hear 'not' to do that:

GM finds a good general pressure for all around performance with handling, and braking, while still providing good tire wear, ride, and fuel economy. Supposedly ABS and the brake bias is setup for the recommended pressure.

If you run the max pressure, you'll have a smaller contact patch, which effects all of the above. Some it may help, like fuel economy - but others it will hurt.

There are fomulas on the net that will help you fine-tune your tire pressures based off of your vehicles weight bias. I didn't like the way my front tires looked soft with the recommended 30psi, which is why I run a little more up front. I've been meaning to get around to weighing my truck and calculating out some pressures.
