I'd like to make the haul. Yahoo says 7 hrs is that usually about right? Where do people stay in tents at???

anywhere you want basically. they have shower facilities right there. the parking tarmac is quite large and is paved. there are some grassy areas as well. now if you check KOA or do a search for camping grounds close to belle rose, la you might find something like that. however, if you have an air matress, that would suffice for the tent on pavement.

naturally i will be bringing that gas grill and some grub. i would recommend that to others as well. there wasn't much close to the track to go eat at and unless you like eating concession stand food for two to three days, you'll want something halfway decent. chips, beer, and nachos and only sustain a person for so long. you gotta have some hotdogs and burgers in there too! lol
