I thought it felt like a weak tie-rod? You just feel a thumping in the steering wheel along with an irritating 'loose' sound when the wheel is even slightly turned when you are moving.

I posted the bulletin earlier in this thread, and it's got the symptoms in it.

(or you can disconnect it and run the shaft down and re-install (like we did at the dealer). works for a while till you need a new grease plug kit. Also be sure to tighten the (4) bolts on the frame connector (goes across the bottom from 1 side to the other) these were undercoated before install and tend to pop at parking lot turn speeds.

i have a thuming sound comming from the front of my truck but i cant really say that i feel it in the steering wheel. i want to fix this problem, but i dont want to buy the new shaft if thats not going to be the problem. i want to try to grease the shaft that it has right now to see if the thumping sound stops. if it does then i will buy the new shaft. but my question is where do i lube the existing shaft at and will any kind of grease work?

Hey friend the grease kit you want is Part# 26098419...you can grab them at your local GM Dealer. They have the instrruction sheet inside with the kit, do it's a breeze. If you can't find one....PM me and I'll send you one.
