Default For those that doubt the Superchips programmer, check this out...

Well, I finally sold the Superchips programmer I've had on my truck forever. I knew it did some good, but I figured I would check out the times to see just how much. My best time to date so far has been a 15.4. My new time is a mind blowing 16 flat!!! I lost .6 from simply unprogramming my truck! This thing is a damn dog now!
Here's my rant for the evening. Why is it that when I was programmed, I just about couldn't buy a race. I mean, no bites whatsoever. Two days after I sell the programmer, I get a new Hemi wanting some on the highway. Now, I know better than to think I could take one running a 16. Also, I get my *** handed to me in a roll race with an older model gmc(maybe a 97?) I also get a guy revving at me in a piece of **** old *** chevrolet truck. Since the loss to the 97, I won't drive over 60 and draw as little attention as possible wherever I go now. I did tell a little white lie to the hemi guy. I told him I wasn't going to run because he might have to tow me since the tranny was acting up. I told him I would run him after I got my new tranny. I failed to mention the 6.0L setup was going in the same time as the tranny. Funny how I failed to mention that little unimportant detail. Can't wait!!!

I believe in hand held programmers, I knocked a half of a second off with my HPPIII. I too will be upgrading to LS1edit in the near future. How long until you get your motor in? I just put the cam and springs in mine tonight (with a little help from my boys Tony and Jason at F-Body Central...thanks guys!), so I'm that much closer. I was thinking about putting it in after my August vacation, but Jason at FBC said he would help me and we could probrobally have it done in one day, so who knows. It might find its way in there one weekend. Good luck to you with your install, I know you got some good help workin' with you too.

Hopefully within the next week or two. You're right, I do have some good help on the project. All that's left is the valve job and it will be ready to come my way. I'm looking at having everything in by the end of August. Man, the anticipation is killing me! I can't wait to break it out for the Mustang boys! What cam did you go with? I really think the TR224 I got is going to go well with the 3000 stall.

I have a Superchips programmer. I have it set at the 87 economy tune but I don't know if that makes a difference. I ran a 15.88 with the 87 tune and if I take off .6, that would make my time close to a 16.5. I would like to go to the track and test it with no tune, 87 tune and 93 performance tune, to see what the actual gains are.

I went with a baby cam.....a custom grind version of the 212/218 558/563 high lift XE on a 114 from Comp Cams. This is my DAILY driver, and reliability and drivability were more of a concern then overall power. I figure being I have already gone 14.5x with the 5.3, this 6.0L, cam, headers, pulley (I figured while it was off!), new tune up parts (plugs, wires, etc) I should be able to knock off a 13.something. I'm hoping for around 75-100 more HP then what I already have, and maybe throw a small nitrous shot (100hp) at it for some mid to low 13's. Its easy to get carried away....but I need to stick as close to my original plan as possible...and I also gotta keep my AC, I mean what kinda nut takes the AC off of his truck to save 30lbs?

I'm a firm believer in the Hypertech myself. I've got LS1 Edit now, but kinda regret getting it, since i'm not taking advantage of many of the options. I can't afford to screw anything up on the truck at the moment.

Sorry to dig this up from the dead. Have a superchips programmer on the way for my truck (in sig) and wanted to hear any installation/setup/tuning tips you guys have. The one thing that I gathered from old posts was the problems with Onstar during installation and I dont have Onstar.

Easy plug and play. I really think you'll be happy with it. I know I was.
