keukaZ71 is thinking the same as me. Plus he has a deeep 1st gear witht he Allison, gobs of torque and gearing...

depends on how you hook up to each other too... since you are higher up it could theoretically help you out, with yours putting his up somewhat due to the angle etc...
(just some off the wall thought, need some backup here)

I would say go for it on dirt, pavement... who knows.

Thanks for the advice, the more I think about it, the more I think I don't want to risk f-ing up my truck. If I do want to try it, I got some friends w/ stock F-150s that I know I could take, I think even if they were in 4wd. You all say that the duramax is what hes got going for him, do you think it would be possible for me to beat a 6.0? I will be sure to tape anything I do and post it.

Where do you work?

I think it's a traction issue not a torque issue.
4wd 5.3 vs 2wd duromax
I'd bet on the 4wd on any surface. If they're both empty i'd give odds.

I'm in the army stationed at Fort Carson Co. I can agree with that as well. Whoever gets the traction has an advantage. It's something that I would like to see! I guess it gets pretty hard to call, the more I think about it.

I agree. It doesen't matter if he has 10,000 ft lbs of torque, he only has 2 wheels worth of traction versus your 4 wheels worth. You'll drag him on any surface. Make sure you use 4lo, and if you're worried...throw some weight in the back of you're truck, and use 25 psi in the tires.

Also, when you go, don't floor it, just ease into it. Nothing sudden to start you're tires spinning. Just try to brake torque a little and get moving FIRST so he's moving backwards slightly when he gets into it.

I drug my friends Cummins on pavement because he kinda dumped the clutch and got the tires spinning. 4lo vs 4lo! Nothing like the feeling of dragging a cocky diesel owner with a 1/2 ton.

14 bolt with heavy duty allison tranny, heavy duty suspesion, weighs a ton, 4.10s, duramax torque monster

vs. 10 bolt, crappy 4l60E , light duty suspension, weighs less

even if you're in 4wd, your gunna strain your drivetrain and i think its gunna break somthing, i wouldnt try it. if u do, take a vid

Yup, I want to see your face when your converter overheats and falls apart taking your trans with.

If it goes well, in 4Hi you should take him as you have traction on your side of two additional tires. Plus those skinnies out back on the 2500HD dont' grip for much of anything stock. Now if it were 4hi vs 4hi, that Dmax should pull you away all else being equal.

But seriously, save the "my truck is badder than yours" crap...is it worth breaking something?

Id be willing to bet money against the duramax in 2wd. It is going to be a traction thing. I wouldn't wory about breaking anything, i dont think you have enough power to break something if you wanted. No im not picking either. Those big tires are going to grip in dirt or pavement. As soon as he tries with all that torque he has his tires are going to break loose and then you can pull him all over no prob. Good luck and tell us how it turns out

All I have to say is:
Lower Tire Pressure
4 Low
Easy on the throttle
Pray everything holds
you shouldn't have a problem with traction (I figure with your lift you probably have aftermarket off road tires) my tires grip suprisingly well. I think you probably have just as good of a chance beating him out of the dirt as you do on the pavement. I would do it in the dirt just because I think (i could be wrong) it won't be as hard on your drivetrain as it would be on the pavement, even though both would be pretty hard on it. I wish you the best of luck with this.
