Default Tahoe Rear Vent Caps

How do those things come off. I have tried a couple of times, and I am probably just missing one of the clips, but I can't get them off for the life of me. Anyone have a picture of them off so I can see where the other clip is? Mine are faded, and I want to paint them.

Could be... I have always heard them called Vent Caps... that's the way they sell them at least. Arrow in picture shows what I am talking about.

Open your hatch. You have to take the top trim off of the inside if I remember correctly. I think the outside pops in and the inside has a couple of screws. I painted mine to match on my old Tahoe that was maroon. It made it look 10 times better with match paint even with the spray cans.

I have taken the trim off around the rear window... and there is a clip there. 1 Screw around the hatch area... must be one more clip somewhere. I don't want to break the thing though.... just doens't seem to want to come off. I was thinking there was another screw under the side trim... haven't taken that off yet.

Update.... it's sticking where it meets the window.. I can move it around, just can't get it out from the window.

Must be tons of road grime in there... can't pull hard enough to get them off. Doesn't' help that there is no real place to grab from either.

Got one off.... lots of grime in there... glad I took them off just to clean back there.

Yea, definitely a dirty area on the truck. Are you painting them or replacing them?

Already painted one today to see what it would look like. Took a picture of it after paint, no pictures yet of it installed... looks much better than the faded black it was.
