I can't vouch for a difference from stock, as I bought my truck with straight pipes. I will say though that with the Magnaflow it is much softer at idle, but still makes a bit of noise when I stand on it. I have a big body one though, so it will be much softer than a smaller bodied version. Looking forward to seeing how your setup turns out! Should look and sound good.

Remeher u will need a straight section of 3 inch to make up for the length difference between a short aftermarket muffler and the long stock one
I will pm you the link if I find a stock exhaust tip. I will probably go with a chrome tip to compliment my rims and to go with a different look than I am accustomed to.

Thanks for the 3 in straight section pointer.

I was thinking about doing straight pipes at 1st but I figured it would be a cheaper investment for sound with a muffler upgrade.

I will have pics up when I decide what to go with.

Placed an online order yesterday for:

- Super 40 series flowmaster that is 19" inches in length, and 3" inch inlet/outlet.
- 3A Racing/Universal wire hanger
- 3A Racing/2 1/2 in. i.d. x 12 in. length turndown pipe
- 3A Racing/Stainless steel exhaust clamp

Does that sound like all the parts needed for a stock to performance upgrade switch?

If your dead set on running flowcrapper most muffler shops will carry this. Don't know if your trying to put it on yourself but I would just go to a shop cut out factory muff and have them weld in new one and they can make a turn down pipe. It's just a piece of pipe with an angle cut unless you going out the back they could do that to. The catback systems are a rip off all you need is a muffler and they will do the rest. HTH

Thanks. I purchased a Super 40 Series Flowmaster muffler over the internet along with a turndown pipe extension.

I plan on taking it to a shop for them to put it in.

Any idea roughly, how much for a shop to install?

Just an update -

I had my 40 series flowmaster installed at a muffler man. It cost me $50 for labor, and an additional $25 for a stainless steel turn down pipe that they welded on.

I am satisfied with the increased sound. It sounds mean!!

Thank you everyone who had replied to my original post! (:
