I did the lube method to mine about 5 or 6 years ago and it has been good ever since. (GM used to offer a lube kit with grease and a stopper for plugging the end of the shaft to help force the grease between the splines). I used 2 kits when I did mine though (double the grease
). I've heard that most folks got about 6 months to 1 1/2 years after greasing theirs until their noise returned, so either I just got lucky or using twice as much grease was a good idea.
And I'll vouch for Torque Wrench also, great guy who's always willing to help
