You should have just let the starter hang by the wires, it's fine like that. Trust me!
my stupid buddy was in charge of that. now i will pay. free help cant be trusted!!!

Before you start unbolting those bellhousing bolts, you need to get the converter bolts off first. You can get to them from reaching in the hole where the starter was. Watch those teeth on the flex plate, they will hurt like a SOB.
yeah i got them all(3) unbolted already only cost me 2 cuts on the knuckles .

The Y-pipe would have dropped straight down if you unbolt those support brackets from the frame rail and push them up close to the tire.
i will have to remember that when i put it back up to weld the pipes for the cats, im going to tack weld then first then take it down and finish it up.

If you get the truck level, it will be a LOT easier getting the trans back in when it's time.
im going to try to keep it aligned and just slide it back with the jack just far enough to getthe TC in there. not sure if it will work though.

When you get ready to put the trans back in, stab it, bolt up 2 bolts on both sides, the easiest ones to do. You don't have to torque them or anything, just so they are snug enough to hold the trans in place. Once you do that try and spin the converter, it should spin freely with the trans bolted up to the motor. If it doesn't drop it and try putting the converter on again, it's not in all the way. That's why you don't want to do all of the bolts before you make sure the converter will spin freely.
how do i get to the TC through the little peak hole on the bottom of the trans?

Awesome. I'll be doing mine by myself next Friday. I'm a bit nervous. I'm actually dreading it more than being excited.

I will say make sure the convertor seats all the way back otherwise you will be paying for a new tranny.

well after day 2 . i got the new TC in and the tranny 90% bolted up, i cant get the one of the top bolts back in. i need to get a swivel for a socket to get that one in. it was a pain in the *** once again.

i think i got the TC all the way in, it free spins untill i bolted it to the flex plate. i put about a half a quart of fluid in it before i put it in.

not much got accomplished for 5 hours . im really slow. tomorrow i will hopfully get the last bolt of the tranny in and put in the shift kit, exhaust, PCM, electric fan harness. DAMN i still got a lot left. hopfully i can get it all done tomorrow!!!

Why didnt you put the shift kit in while the tranny was out of the truck or did you just pull it back far enought to swap torque convertors ?
