It started life as a 3/4 ton HD longbed with the 8.1, but was only a cab and chassis with no bed. The frame was shortened and a short bed was installed. They then but a 1500 body on that frame???? That was about all he said about it, but I did notice that it only had 6 lug wheels on it. It also sat very low, which makes me wonder if the 3/4 ton frame was really under there, as the frames usually show a good bit on the 3/4 tons in the rocker panel area. The truck also had air-ride suspension.

You know whats really funny? That was the exact truck that I was trying to find info about a couple of days ago. I'm thinking about building something similar and I remembered that I had seen that truck on Trucks a few years ago but I couldn't remember anything about it. It was pure luck that I saw it in the background while he was working on Copperhead, so I stuck around and watched the segment on it. Do you know who owns that truck or any other specific info about it?
EDIT: It wasn't the 3/4 ton frame. The only thing that they used from the 3/4 ton was the cab and motor. Then they took the 8.1 and cab and dropped it in a 1/2 ton frame and short bed. Pretty sweet if you ask me.

That truck was built a couple years ago I believe. Because that 572 that was on the same show was a couple years ago. Here's a link to that truck.

I saw this in truckin about 3 years ago. If memory serves me correct, it started life as a 3/4 and they took the body/motor-tranny off and put it on to a 1/4 frame? and a new short bed because the 8.1 only came in a LB
I still have my issues, i'll try and get around to looking for it
