Default Spedometer cant make up its mind!

Alrighty guys, I have a problem with my speedometer flipping back and forth starting at 50mph and finally deciding at around 85mph. This only happens when Im at WOT but never else. While this is happening, my Ebrake light and ABS light are flashing. It seems that I am accelerating too fast for me spedo to read...not! lol O yeah and after that, my ABS light is on and stays on for the duration of the drive. Whenever I start it up again, it stays on for like 15 seconds and then it automatically turns off. My question is...has anyone had this problem and how do i fix it. It doesnt really bother me but(call me **** Retentive) I like things working right. Oh well. Thanks for reading.

check your tail houseing to see if you have trans fluid leaking every where. Grab the drive shaft and see if you can move it around if so then the rear bearing is gone. The reason your speedo is going crazy is your speedo switch at the tail housing is bad. Same for the abs lights works off the same switch some how or another.

Have you had some bad vibration from the truck? That will cause the rear seal on the housing to go bad. have your drive shaft checked for balance at houston drive train off of I-45 N. Good luck.

there hasnt been any fluid leaking but i will have to check it tomarrow to see if the drive shaft is loose. Any ideas how much the new switch will cost?( An important factor in the question of getting it fixed or not.) I have not experience any bad vibration. I bought the truck with 36,000 miles on it and I started noticing the problem at around 50,000miles. I guess that means that I would have had to experience the vibrations to cause the rear seal to go bad. Thanks man

well not really, its not really the seal but a bushing in the tail houseing, you would have to buy a whole new tail houseing or take it in under warrenty, it could happen from taking it down bumpy roads at fast speeds, off roading at fast speeds etc.

You will notice smoke coming from back of truck when you step on the gas wot.
Maybe the wire came loose or broke. like i said good luck.

I'd check the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) and the wiring to it. A loose connection in that ciruit could cause the symptoms you're describing.

VSS is located on the tail section of the tranny, on the passenger side. get under there and look, it's the only plug in that vicinity

The bushing can be changed, you just need the special puller to remove the old bushing. I have changed them before.

I checked for a leak and felt the driveshaft and everything was tight and didnt leak. I did check the VSS cable and unplugged it and took a gander at it. It was clean so i plugged it back in and took it for a run. Still the same problem. How much is a new VSS does anybody know? Any more suggestions before I buy a new one.
