Default Spare doesnt fit!!??

Well, I was about to leave to go get my new tires put on and when I went to pull out I heard a horrible noise coming from the driver side rear tire (spare). After taking it off again I saw that the inner wheel is rubbing on the caliper. Am I an idiot of did they give me a ******* spare that doesnt fit?? It says its a 16 inch rim??!! Thats what comes stock right?? Anyways, now I have to try to stick a buddies escalade rim in the hatch of my corvette and drive home tonight and do it again. I keep thinking I did something stupid, but how do you put a spare on wrong?? It just doesnt fit. Am I a retard??

this is a stock tire and rim? and it doesn't fit underneath your truck, or on the hub?

The spare from underneath the truck doesnt fit on the on the hub. It scrapes against the brake caliper.

Sounds stupid... but did you try putting it on backwards?? Chevy really goofed on this one! Do you have aftermarket larger brakes?

Thought about it, but I dont want to mess with that crap anymore. Im putting on my buddies escalade rim (17 inch) tonight. Ive got the stock brakes. I think it was just a screw up on GM's part. Can you imagine if this happened on the side of the road?? I know its not that big of a deal with Onstar and AAA, its just the point. Oh well, Im done. Ive been lectured 5 times about my attitude these last few weeks. Accentuate the postive right?! Ya, that supercharger does look cool as hell on the floor

My spare was exactly the same as my other 4 stock steel 16" rims. If it looks like its a deep dish wheel on there and the valve stem is on the inside, then you put it on backwards hombre. Otherwise, I dont know what to tell you, I know the suburbans have larger rear calipers than the silverados, but I dont think they are that much larger.

Ya, I checked the valve stem 5 times in disbelief. Then today while getting the new tires put on I had another wonderful gift bestowed upon me. The jackasses at Goodyear broke the tabs on the wheel caps and have been using glue to get them to stick for god knows how long.
