Now I have had my pinion shims on my truck since the second day I lowered it. The first day, I left them out and the vibration was there. Now I installed them with the thick end to thee rear like every tech article I have ever seen. Well, the other day, while at the muffler shop, a stanger comes up and asked if that was my truck on the rack. I said yes, then he just goes to town on the guy that lowered my truck and said the shims were in backwards. I informed him that they were not and that I did the lowering. Well this guy insisted that he was right as did I. I tried to explain to him about the two piece driveshaft and how installing them the correct way put an END to my vibration problems. Well, the guy basically left thinking I was an idiot. Sometimes I just wish people would mind their own bussiness. Just a little vent. I guess the iron fist John will hit this with a lock!

Not to open the vent any bigger, but I have a short wheel base and the shims are thick toward the front. Is the short and long wheel bases different? I know the long has a two piece drive shaft and the short does not. Is that why they are switched around (the shims)?

If the axle is on bottom, the thin goes to the rear and if it is on top, the thin end goes to the front. Well, I know mine are installed thin to rear/thick to front. The two piece drivshaft comment I was talking about was the bearing relocation bracket. I didn't use one, or get one. In any case, some guys say they don't need shims. I know I needed them. How many of you are running the bearing relocator with the 4" rear drop? Does the Hotckis leaf kit use shims or relocators?

Greg

LOL, reminds me of the other day....to make a long story short, one of my GF's uncles asked "if my truck had an 8 liter engine in it?"

Me, "No it's just the 6 liter."

Him, "Oh, you got the big block?"

Me, "No it's a small block."

Him, "Are you sure?"

Me, "Umm, yeah I'm pretty sure."

Him, "How big is it again?"

Me (gettin pissed at this point), "Six point Zero liters."

Him, "Is it a Vortec?"

Me, "Yes."

Him, "Then it has to be a big block."

Me, "Are you ******* deaf??? I'm telling you what it is... 6.0, 364 cubic inches, the only motor you can get in a 1500HD, it is not the big block, the big block is an 8.1, 496ci. If you don't believe me, that is fine, it just shows that you don't know what the hell you are talking about."

End of conversation.

What was funny, (besides this taking place in front of my GF's whole family ), is that the guy actually drives a 2002 GMC 3500 crewcab with a 8.1L. I don't know if the guy was drunk, or has just gotten alot dumber since the last time I saw him?

For the extracabs you install the springs in reverse of the regcabs and use the carrier bearing bracket they supply.
