Default sold the colorado bought a silverado

Traded in my 05' Colorado and bought a brand new 06' Silverado reg. cab short bed work truck. I had some GM card earnings to spend and got a killer deal. It has a 4.8L/auto/3.23's/locking differential/cd player and a chrome bumper. Its victory red with the black looking interior. Drove it from the dealer to the dyno/tint shop. With 54 miles on the odometer it dynoed 240rwhp & 248rwtq corrected. Then after the dyno it went to the next bay over and tinted the windows 15%. It'll be going back next week for a dyno tune as the guy didn't have the updated software from efilive to do my truck. John Weeks from XXX Motorsports in Pensacola, Fl will be doing the tune. So, next week I'll be able to report back to what the difference a tune will make on a completely stock truck. Any thoughts, next mods, suggestions?

Thanks,

Chris

240-RWHP sounds pretty stout. I don't keep up with what these things do stock but, I thought I remember the earlier 5.3s doing 230-RWHP.. So, possibly good news there.

Ummm... What else to say.
You got plans of racing it or just a 'hopped up', street truck?
Preferences as far as gas mileage and usage?
Daily driver?
I think some of this will help narrow down what some of your next mods should be.

Post some pics if you get a chance.

Welcome to the site... Stay for a while.

Yeah, 240rwhp is VERY impressive for a 54 mile 4.8. Are you sure your truck doesn't have a 5.3??, LOL. I always thought stock 5.3's made approx. 240rwhp. Anyways, like Sport Side said, do you want your truck to be a reliable daily driver or a sleepin' street performer? Either way, I would consider a catback exhaust next like Corsa, Borla, Magnaflow, etc. Search this site...there is ALOT of information.

Nice to see another Pensacola Silvy owner here! I'm REAL interested to see what John can squeeze out of that stock truck. I need to get over there and get mine dynoed again...lots of mods, tweaks, and money in it vs the last dyno session I went to. Post some pics so I'll know ya if I see ya!

Thanks for the comments guys! This truck will be my daily driver so I doubt it gets to many major mods for a while. I only drive a 14 mile round trip to work and back everyday so gas mileage isn't a big issue. I plan on taking the truck to the drag strip to see what she'll do but she still has to be a dependable daily driver capable of pulling a car or boat or something of that nature. I did see that most people recommend a gear, converter and tune as first mods. I think I'll go with a tune, gear, catback or just the replacement muffler and a cold air intake of some sort. Thanks again and I'll get picks up soon I promise. Oh and I'm going searching locally for some 2" lowering shackles

Yep... At the crank, but not the rear. Would guess-timate RWHP for '06 models at 255 - 260. Yeah, GM's boosting power up a bit. Anyone have specs on '06 cams? Somthing's changed, obviously. Just curious

Good buy! I'm sure you'll be postin' mods within the first year!
