Default showfest mixed feelings

Well, after doing a nitrous install on my truck with bigkid on friday, i didn't get to head out that afternoon. Then on saturday, i found some things that needed to be taken care of with the kit asap. so i spent the better part of the day working out some bugs.
FInally hit the road from south east MS and drove up to greeville. First off, long *** drive in the pouring rain.

after getting to slowprocess' house, we decided to head to the strip. Man what a bunch of people. Some really nice trucks and some really stupid people.

Showfest would be so much better if it were held in a town that can support the number of people that attend this thing. Also, it would be better in a town that didn't have so many locals that were idiots. I heard several comments on how the locals are ruining if for everyone. Hell, my two cousins ended up in a brawl trying to help this one guy from getting the snot beat out of him for no reason.

some chick got stabbed in the gut 3 times and someone reportedly was shot. This isn't a place i will be going back to for showfest..

anyone else that went want to post up their feelings on the event.

Glad to see you made it home safe! Bottom line...Showfest must be moved from Greenville if it wants to keep its success!!!!!

The Good... Nice trucks on big wheels, custom paint, airbags, thousands and thousands of dollars well spent. Great turnout of people from all across the country.

The bad... it rained its *** off Saturday, thus closing down the track(which was really the only reason for me going in the first place). The traffic was absolutely unbearable. After about 2-3hrs of sitting still and moving at a snail like pace, we had to pull off into a gas station because my tranny was really warming up. People were driving up and down the road like complete idiots. There were several big SUVs with people on top of it, hanging out all of the doors, out the back, and some on the damn hoods. The drivers couldn't see anything, but they would still throw u-turns into oncoming traffic, making people slam on the brakes. These were true thugs.

The ugly... The Greenville locals were at their usual thug, lowlife ways. I get the Greenville paper and read about shootings/stabbings everyday, and this weekend was no different. As Goshawk stated, a girl was stabbed three times, someone was shot, and guns would ring out at will. There were more fights between whites and blacks than could be counted. I had a crack head bugging me about buying something, and I was just waiting on him to try to rob me. People in the back of trucks were yelling at everyone trying to start fights and making girls uncomfortable with sexual advances. Local drunks were riding up and down the strip doing burnouts in Jeeps trying to provoke things. Bottles were being throw at super nice cars/trucks. Just general thug activity. I won't be attending cruise night next year. We had to stay at Goshawks relatives hotel room until after 4:00a.m in order to be able to get out on the road to get home.

So like I said, this must be moved out of Greenville at all costs!!!

I'm hearing a lot of backlash about the locals too. It was starting to get bad a couple of years ago the last time that I went, but it sounds like it's REALLY bad now. It's a shame, it really is an awesome show, and the cruising was stellar until the locals f'ed it up.

SOunds like it got a little worse from last year?? Last year was a sick *** show but there was a few elements that kinda ruined it and screwed other showgoers over. All in all best show in country but you guys are right needs to move to different city to be able to handle all the people.

I can say the show was bad *** and the cruise was cool at first until everything got out of hand. People we driving all over the wrong sides of the road in on coming traffic, people we walking across the street all night long while dumb *** people were doing 60mph down the road. Its amazing that noone got run over!! I was in the left lane and I watched a guy walk between my truck and the car in front of me and didnt even look to see if anyone was coming from the other direction. Some kid in his MR2 was actin like he was runnin the 1/4 mile and almost creamed his ***. He jumped back and still got grazed by the MR2 but he didnt get hurt. I couldnt believe how trashy that town is. I have never been there before because this was my first year to go but i dont know if im even interested in going next year if it is going to keep being held in greenville. I saw and heard all the same stuff goshawk and slowprocess were talking about too. The town needs to be alot bigger to support that big of a crowd. It was rediculous.

I saw a black guy in his candy painted caprice classic on 20" spinners turn right out and run into the side of a stock ford 4x4. The guy in the ford lookd like he was just trying to get home. It was totally the black guys fault since the ford was just stopped in traffic but then the black guy wants to start a fight because he fucked his own car up. Well the guy in the truck was white so there went the bunch of black guys grouped up talking **** to this guy. Im not racist but greenville is nothing but trash!

The only thing i liked was the car show! Im hoping someone will change the location for next year. Im sure if all of those people are willing to trailer and drive there trucks to greenville, im sure they wouldnt mind driving somewhere else that is much nicer to have the show.

if they would bring that **** to biloxi or gulfport, there wouldn't be any problems like that. traffic is gonna suck no matter what city you hold it in but as far as the thugness, there are too many cities grouped close together on the coast for **** like that to happen. also, cruisin the coast is probably bigger than showfest and there aren't problems like that.

Well it sounds like I missed some nice trucks. I really just wanted meet up with you guys at the track, but since it was rained out I don't feel so bad now. Sounds like my truck is safer for not having gone. After talking with Jeremy on Sat. I was just telling my buddies how this event should be held in a bigger place to support the crowd. Bigger cities could offer more accomodations & better security.

That just sucks. That reminds me of FAMU's homecoming when I was in Tallahassee attending FSU. The town would close..... malls, restaurants, everything would close.... even the car washes!!
