Default Shortening dbw gas pedal

Need to shorten the dbw pedal. Do I need to disconnect the electrical stuff thats on the pedal itself? Was wondering would the welding damage the electrical on the pedal.

Thanks.

You'd try welding in that cramped space in the first place? Sounds like a pain in the ***. I would disconnect the connector to be safe...simple clip connector, you might as well.

The pedal is out of the truck. The electrical part is still apart of the pedal. Its located at the top of the pedal. Thats the the section I'm concerened about when welding.

Cant be too safe, I would try to remove the electronics if possible. Although the electronics aren't grounded to the pedal so, I don't see it launching unwanted voltage in the box. Either way I'm sure would be fine if you can't remove the electronics.

If it isn't installed, then don't worry about removing the electronics. Current will take the path of least resistance, and its not going to be through that circuitry if it has no easier path to ground.

I know this thread is like a month old, but fwiw I shortened mine. The rheostat/potentiometer doesn't like heat, and I had to take care to cover it from spark, and keep the beads short. Its not a big piece, and it heats up quickly if welded.
