Get an 06 ctsv they have the better rear end and an LS2, Ive found a few(when I was looking for the wife) in the mid to high teens with some miles on them though.

Im personally looking at sierra denalis 05-07 models, the NBS versions can be had for mid teens, the NNBS 07s are in the low 20s. Just cant decide if the NNBS are worth the premium.
I'd love a 07 denali with eh 6.2. But 25K is what i'm looking at. I sold the 95 GMC but have a 16' car hauler for the Tahoe move. I could later buy a beater truck for general use.

I've researched the cts-v's for a few years now and the 04-05 rear is only an issue if you launch it hard or let it wheel hop. There are inexpensive suspension upgrades to cut most of the wheel hop out.
I'm wanting to pay cash so the 4-5k more for the 06 with comparable miles is unappealing right now. Realistically, is the LS6 vs LS2 worth that kind of money for a DD?

If you want to leave the T56 in it, then go with a 4.8. If you want a 5.3 in it, then go with an auto. I think that is the only way they came. Someone can correct me if I am wrong.

I believe that is the only way the Joe Gibbs came but I would more more likely to buy a 5.3 6 speed truck than a 4.8 6 speed truck. Used 5.3's are just a hundred bucks or so more than the 4.8's.
Besides, originality is kind of out the window anymore. Someone would be buying it for the look more than collectability.

Yeah, when I sold the stuff I knew I would regret it one day but needed to free up room in the shop. I'll keep you in mind if I decide to pull the tranny.

I've got a 2005 CTSV (Silver/Ebony) with Longtubes and Custom Exhaust, that I would be interested in trading for your truck if you're interested. I personally think the LS6 V's are better, but its just my opinion. However, I do have the 06-07 rearend in mine. PM me if you're interested. We can work something out.
