Default To sell or not to sell...

So I bought my 07 ecsb Vmax a lil over a year ago and it was bone stock with 26,000 miles on the dot. Its now up to 55,xxx miles with 3/1 lift, 305/55/20s, MB V-drive wheels, K&N FIPK2 Kit, 2 1/2 in true duals, tb spacer, 5% tint all around, vette servo, and a superchip.

I absolutely LOVE my truck! There is no question about it but however the $446 a month payment, fuel, maintenance, insurence, is kicking my *** nce I bought my house in January. Like I've not been late on any payments between it, the house, or anything else... but there are some things I wanna do to my house, ya know make it mine lol, and can't really afford it right now.

Here's my delima.. I don't wanna sell my truck, but judging by Kbb.com and nada.com I could bank 4-6g on selling it. I'm looking into something better on gas for a couple years until I get some things paid off/down. Then I wanna buy a 2010-2011 ecsb ltz Vmax with the 6.2l and 6 speed trans. I've drove one truck with the 6l80 and freakin loved it!! The 4l70 is the only thing I'm unhappy with.

So... What would you do? Sell the truck now, buy a car for mpg for around 10-15g, and a couple years later buy a 2010-2011 ltz Vmax? Or... Keep the truck, eliminate some unneeded bills, be patient on renovations, fix my escort for mileage, and eventually put a 6l80 in my 07?

P.s. Sorry bout the novel, but I'm really indecisive and can't decide what to do.. All my friend's love my truck all most as much as I do and just tell me to not sell it, or I'll be kicking myself in the ***..

How long do you plan on being in the house? If you have indefinate plans to be in the house. I say keep the truck and do the house bit by bit. That is how we are doing things and it works pretty well. We do 1 project a year, have a new bathroom and a newly refinished den. Kitchen is next.

Do this.

I wouldn't worry about a 6l80e. The '07 is almost paid off, so you're going to sell it now? Not smart. Unless the repairs are <$500, I wouldn't fix the escort. The house isn't going anywhere. Why are you so worried about fixing it up so quick?

You have a nice truck, and a place of your own. Enjoy it, don't be uptight about what you don't have.

Yea the escort just needs some small stuff and a hood.. I could proly fix it for around $300+/-. I'm cursed with I want it and I want it now and up until 6 months ago I got it(for myself not mommy and daddy bought lol). I'm trying to work on this Lil problem and be more conscious of where my money is going.

You guys brought up some good points for me to think about.. I canceled 2 bills today that I can live without and that alone will save me about $190 a month. I'll try this and go from there. Thanks

There is no way you'll get BB prices with gas prices over $4.00 a gallon.
Especially when you can buy a new truck and get $8-$10K+ off sticker.
I'd stick it out and try to combine your truck and house insurance. Or try to refinance your truck for a cheaper rate.

That's exactly how I've done my truck, bit by bit. I try to do 1 project a year. Last year I did trans, stall, TruCool 40k, along w/. a cam, pushrods & springs so I broke outta that 1 mod / yr sorta. Lemme explain: trans, cooler & stall were the project for that yr. The cam & valve springs I already had; pushrods were given to me by a buddy. But in general, it's 1 project at a time.

Why do ya not like the 4L70E? Cause it's missin 2 gears, unlike the 6L80E?

You need to exercise some patience.
How old are you?
You'll have a long time to fix up that house. True, I can understand the personalizing your home. If u can't really afford it, now isn't the time to tweak your house.

$300 +/- for what u call small stuff to fix Escort? Cmon man, that's a small price to pay to have a lil commuter. Just like that 2 bills gone & $190 saved, way to go.

You're not cursed, you're facing an age old dilemma everyone faces: wants / needs overrides lack of funds.

Wanting it now will bite u in the behind financially later. Forget about the instant gratification that so many in today's society seem to not be able to overcome. It will help, really.

While an extreme case, I had to wait 17 yrs. to be able to buy a new truck, which I always wanted. That's patience!!! Of the highest order. Not sayin u need or want to wait that long, just pointing out, w/. perserverance, it can become reality. I hope it works out for ya, good luck.

I think you're on the right track.
